- enjoyed some STEM activities with the other 5th grade class.
- went caroling at Rest Haven with all Pine Ridge students.
- got "crafty" making ornaments.
- helped our second grade buddies at South Side with a STEM activity.
- A practice test for Unit 3 of math (Multiplication and Division of Fractions) will be sent home on Monday (12/12) and due back on Wednesday (12/14). The practice test will help us prepare for the Unit 3 Math Test on Wednesday (12/14).
- In reading, we are learning about different text structures.
- Luke 2:6-20 is due on Friday (12/16). This long passage has been memorized little by little since students have been in kindergarten. If your fifth grader is new to HC this year, please don't stress about learning all 14 verses! Just make a goal to learn as much as they can handle and celebrate that!
- Persuasive essays are in the process of being published. Hooray!
Other Tidbits:
- Our class will have a joint Christmas celebration with Mrs. Becksfoort's class on Thursday (12/16). (Students do not need to bring anything - gifts, food, etc. - for the party.)
- Thank you for all of the donations of baby items to Positive Options! We have a special chapel planned on Wednesday at 2:30pm in the gym where Pine Ridge will present the collected items to a representative from Positive Options. You are welcome to attend!

- Maroons Unified Basketball is looking for partners! Unified Sports is a program offered in partnership with Special Olympics to provide inclusive sport opportunities for students with and without disabilities. Holland Christian and Zeeland Christian partner together to form the Maroons Unified teams. The basketball season runs from the week of January 9, to the week of March 20, with practices one day a week and games in place of practice toward the later weeks. If you would like to sign your child up to play Unified basketball this winter at either the K-5 or 6-8 level, please fill out this form. Due to the high interest Unified Sports has received, we cannot promise every interested partner will be on the team as we would like to keep the players from each school as balanced as possible.
