Looking ahead to....Our LAST Week!

Oh, goodness.

How did this day creep up so quickly?!  The year flew by and this bunch has become so very dear to me! They are ready for the next chapter in their learning, so I know I can't hang on to them, but I will miss the "family" we've created this year.  God's hands are always orchestrating who is in each class, and I know without a doubt that these twenty third graders were meant to do third grade together.  We have grown and learned a ton, and I'm sending them on with full confidence that God has his hands on their futures.

Here are a few helpful tidbits about our last two-and-a-half days:

Monday:

  • Bring your yellow folder and turn in your LAST reading minutes slip.
  • Bring a bag of some sort to help transport all of our desk and locker treasures back home.
  • We will have Spanish.
Tuesday:
  • We'll begin our day with a Sing, Move, and Memorize Celebration in the "small gym" beginning at 8:20am.  This will be a fun and worshipful time of reviewing all SEVEN of this year's Bible memory passages.
  • We will have Art.
Wednesday:
  • All-school final chapel at 10:45am outside. You are welcome to join our time of worship!
  • It is a half-day with dismissal at 11:30am.
  • Students will come home with their final report cards as well as a print out of their MAP scores.  If you have questions about interpreting the MAP scores, please let me know, but here are a couple things to keep in mind:
    • Fall '23, Winter '24, and Spring '24 are the three MAP tests taken in third grade at the beginning, middle, and end of this school year.
    • If your child's Spring MAP score shows a significant drop (more than a couple points), this is usually due to the student rushing or doing what we call "rapid guessing" - clicking without taking the time it typically takes to complete the test carefully.
Requested Announcements:
  • Rosie & Parker at Critter Barn - Our dear goats, Rosie and Parker, will be spending their summer at the Critter Barn. If you want to visit them and show them some love this summer, we would love for your family to pay them a visit!
