Week #21 & #22 Tidbits

Curriculum Tidbits:

  • We hope to wrap up and assess our current place value unit in math this week.
  • Students took the math and reading MAP tests this past week. These give us valuable data to use in continuing to meet the educational needs of each child. It was very exciting to see so much growth!
  • Psalm 1 is this month's Bible memory passage.
  • Our social studies focus is on the geography of Michigan.
  • Third graders are learning how to effectively read informational texts in our current reading unit. When we read informational texts we pay attention to the following process: Preview the passage, Predict what it will be about, ask yourself if you have any Prior Knowledge about the topic, Read the text, Pause to review what you have read, and Paraphrase what you read.
  • This quarter saw a huge improvement in the completion of the required weekly reading minutes. This is a key piece in each child's development and growth as a reader. Thank you for supporting their at-home reading so consistently!
  • We will be polishing up our opinion/persuasive essays this coming week.
