Wednesday's Walk-a-Thon went very well! The students had a great time and a record amount of donations were received: $58,000! Thank you so much for your generous support of this fundraiser! Please have your child keep his/her orange "Preparing a Table" shirt in a safe spot, as there will be other opportunities to wear it later in the year.
We wrapped up our first reading unit and read aloud by enjoying many activities related to the book Wonder. A favorite was building community having a chance to write compliments to our classmates. We ended our Reading Celebration by viewing "Wonder" with the other fifth graders. Thank you to the Nelson family for allowing us to borrow the movie!
We will focus on non-fiction reading about Colonial America over the next few weeks.
Our first Bible Test will be on Tuesday, October 2. We've spent time reviewing in class and a review sheet will be sent home on Monday.
This week's fraction test went very well! Whew! We look forward to diving into DECIMALS on Monday.
The memory verse for October is Psalm 23. In class we will be practicing from the NIV 2011 version. Students will be able to choose whether they would like to recite it to me (in any version) or complete a fill-in-the-blank (in the NIV 2011 version). It is due on October 31.
On Wednesday, October 3, our POD groups will "prepare a table" by participating in service projects throughout our community.
Happy birthday to Levi, who celebrated his birthday last weekend!
Looking Ahead:
- Grandparents' Day is October 11, from 12:45-2pm.
