Fifth Week Tidbits

The collective cheer you may have overheard this week was the fifth graders celebrating the fact that MAP Testing has officially been completed!  Hooray!  The results will prove extremely helpful as we work to meet the students where they are in their learning.

The Walk-a-Thon is this coming Wednesday afternoon (9/26) at the high school track at 12:45pm.  This is always an exciting afternoon for our school community, and you are more than welcome to join us!

We will be wrapping up our first Reading Unit (Following Characters into Meaning) next week and will be enjoying a small reading celebration by doing some special activities with the other fifth grade class based on our read aloud Wonder.

We celebrated Clayton's birthday on Tuesday!
A practice Math Assessment was sent home with your fifth grader today.  Please check the attachment to the parent email for the answer key and some other helpful links that will be useful should they have a question over the weekend.  Practice test is due on Monday (9/24) as we will be going over them and answering any questions in preparation for the Math Test on Tuesday.

We will be drafting our memoirs this coming week.

The purple Reading Minutes log/sheet is due on Monday, and a new one will be sent home the same day.

Please be reminded that we do not have school this coming Friday, September 28th due to Professional Development for staff.  Therefore, since it is not a full week of school, we will not have any spelling list next week.

Looking ahead:

  • The movie "Screenagers" will be shown in the HCHS auditorium Tuesday, September 25, at 7pm.
  • Grandparents' Day is October 11 in the afternoon.
  • We will not have school on October 25-26, due to the CEA Convention
