Thirty-eighth Week Tidbits

It is unreal that this is the blog post updating you on the last week of fifth grade!  I know we all feel the same - time flies!  I have been blessed beyond measure to spend my days with this class.  Thank you for sharing your child with me for this season of their education!

Our day at Holland State Park couldn't have gone better.  The chilly morning gave way to a beautiful afternoon.  The fifth graders from both PR and RP interacted so well and had a great time sketching Big Red, eating their pizza lunch, making sand sculptures, and playing team games.  Thank you to Mrs. Bruinsma and Mrs. Plaggemars for chaperoning!

Field Day was really cold and windy, but everyone seemed to have a great time getting their competitive juices flowing on Monday afternoon.  A big thanks goes out to Mr. VanKlaveren for all the prep and planning that went into Field Day.

The last reading minutes slip is due on Tuesday, May 28th.

We have been spending our writing time planning, drafting and publishing our "Faith Writing" for fifth grade.  A copy of it will be sent home at the end of the year, and a copy will be put in your child's folder which holds each of their faith writings for each grade they've attended HCS.

Fifth graders were able to summarize and share about a favorite book they've recently read and creating a "book taco":

Please to a good search at home for any reading materials that came from my classroom library.  They would be books that have a colored circle sticker on the spine and have my name or Mrs. Sneller's or Mrs. Edewaard's name on the first page.  Thank you!

Your fifth grader's report card and baton will be sent home on Friday, May 31.  Please send along an extra bag for your child to use to transport his/her remaining school supplies home.
