Thirty-seventh Week Tidbits

While the cooler, gray weather has been nice for keeping us more focused in the classroom over the past few weeks, it sure has been good to see some more sunshine this week!  Looking forward to Game On! tonight!

Next week will be the last week for spelling words.  Our final test will be on Friday, May 24.  It will also be the last week for Reading Minutes with the last slip due on Tuesday, May 28.

Galatians 5:22-26 is due by Friday May 24.  Students may recite it to me or complete a fill-in-the-blank.

All PR library materials are due back ASAP.  Many students are coming home with reminder sheets listing books they should try to locate at home.  Thanks for your help with this!

Monday, May 20, is the SS/PR Field Day.  After lunch we will enjoy some team games on SS's playground.  Students should plan to wear their Preparing a Table t-shirts, athletic shoes that are appropriate for running, and are encouraged to bring a water bottle.  Thank you to Mr. VK for all of his planning for this fun afternoon of outdoor activities!

Our math focus will shift from metric units of measurement to the customary units of measurement.

Our 5th Grade Beach Day at Holland State Park is Thursday, 5/23 from 10:30 AM-2:00 PM. We will sketch Big Red, build sand sculptures, and play games with our friends from Rose Park. In case of inclement weather, the trip will be on Thursday, 5/30.

A huge thanks to Mrs. Plaggemars and Mrs. Bruinsma who will meet us at the park near the lighthouse at 11:15 AM to assist with lunch and activities.

A pizza, pretzel, fruit, and juice-bag lunch will be provided for all of the students and chaperones. If your child does not care for pizza, please send a sack lunch.

Students need to bring a backpack with:
* coat or sweatshirt
* labeled water bottle
* snack
* beach towel
* sunscreen, hat, sunglasses (optional)
* labeled beach toys, pails, plastic shovels etc. (optional)
* NO swimsuits-- we will not be swimming.
