First Week Tidbits

It doesn't seem like only the 4th day of school!  We are well on our way to feeling settled as a class, and that's worth celebrating!

Here are a few helpful tidbits of information:

  1. Fifth graders were able to use their laptops for the first time today; it was VERY exciting.  In these first weeks our focus will be on developing typing skills and avoiding the "hunt and peck" method.  This will enable students to be efficient when using laptops throughout the year.
  2. Opening Convocation for all of HC will be held in the high school gym on Wednesday (8/28) at 9am.  You are more than welcome to attend for this beautiful time of worship.
  3. We do not have school on Friday (8/30) or Monday (9/2) due to Labor Day.
  4. Weekly reading minutes and word work/spelling lists will begin after Labor Day.
  5. Your child is welcome to bring in pictures of themselves, a vacation, a pet, etc. to add to our "This is Us" bulletin board.  It's a great way for our class to build a sense of community.
Thank you to all who were able to attend last night's Meet the Teacher presentation.  I'm honored to partner with you this year.  If you were not able to attend, I placed a purple sheet that gives a quick summary of helpful information in your child's mailbox.  Look for it in their take-home papers today.
