Eighth Week Tidbits

This week marks the end of the first marking period.  This week also marks the end of our 31 Days of Adoration devotions.  Since the beginning of the year, we have opened each morning by focusing our hearts and minds on "an adoration" - something Scripture tells us about WHO God is or HOW He sees us.  We then pray these Scriptures/adorations back to Him asking Him to open our eyes to this truth throughout the day.  We are now spending our devotion time opening God's Word and writing our own adorations based on a given verse.

  • Our informational reading unit will focus on applying non-fiction strategies using the book Eating the Plates.
  • Next week we will be editing and publishing our memoirs.
  • The math unit on addition and subtraction of decimals is coming to an end, so we anticipate having a unit test on Thursday (10/17).  A review test will be sent home prior.

  • In social studies we will learn about the triangular trade and colonial jobs and economy.
  • Students recorded their second "book talk" today.  We look forward to viewing them over the course of the next week.  They should keep reading at home so they have something to talk about next Friday!
