This class is quite an amazing bunch. They way they intentionally include others, cheer each other on, pray for others, and greet each day and task with a smile is truly a reflection of God's love...a Living Testimony. (I tell them this almost daily.) It has been a blessing to witness. And listening to them sing in chapel or during Grandparents' Day practice?...Incredible.
Curriculum Tidbits:
- Bible Unit - Our new Bible unit is called Jesus Ministry Continues. As we learn about Jesus' ministry, we will take special notice of who he interacts with and what that says about who He is and the Kingdom of God.
- Math - We are sailing right along in our study of addition and subtraction of decimals to the thousandths place. We've also spent a few minutes practicing our multiplication facts every day during math and it is paying off! They are becoming quite the experts!
- Reading - Our focus shifts from fiction to non-fiction. We will integrate social studies into reading over these next few weeks applying non-fiction reading skills as we read Life in Colonial Times and Eating the Plates.
- Reading Minutes - Our room was a-buzz today as the class voiced both their fear and excitement about recording their first book talk. Next week we will begin to view them, consider which of the books shared we might be interested in reading, and think about improvements we'd like to make for our next book talks. Please return the purple slip (or even a scrap piece of paper if you can't find it) on Monday letting me know if your child read more, less, or about the same as when they have a set reading minute requirement.
- Writing - As we continue drafting our memoirs, we will pay special attention to our use of transition words, internal and external dialogue, and paragraph formation.
