Seventh Week Tidbits

Curriculum Tidbits:

  • Our study of Jesus' early ministry will continue with the stories of the big catch of fish, Matthew's call, and Jesus calling his disciples.
  • With our memoir drafting complete, we will move on to the publishing phase and work to get our stories edited and typed.
  • We've completed our reading unit focusing on characters and will now begin a unit entitled "Interpretive and Analytic Reading" which will help to sharpen our comprehension skills by noticing subtleties in our text.
  • Our fractions unit is behind us - WOW!  The class did SO well on the unit test this week! - so we will turn our attention to "Adding and Subtracting Decimals".
  • Our new read aloud is Pay Attention, Carter Jones by award-winning author Gary Schmidt.
  • In science we are taking a deeper dive into eclipses.

Other Tidbits:

  • {Virtual} Grandparents' Day is Thursday (10/15).  A link will be emailed to you which you can then pass along to grandparents and grand friends.
  • Parent/Teacher Conferences are Monday (10/19) and Tuesday (10/20).  These will take place over Zoom.  I look forward to meeting with you all!
  • Please continue to keep our class in your prayers.  We've had such a great start to the year!  Pray for the continued blessing of health, and for healing for our classmates - quite a few have broken bones and/or are recovering from surgery.
