End-of-the-Year Celebration!

This morning was SO amazing!  I thought it was definitely worthy of an extra blog post just so I could share all the photos with you.

We began our day by gathering as a Pine Ridge school family in the courtyard.  Both the fifth grade band and orchestra students played for us.  Then, following a few opening words from Mr. Arhenholz, and a presentation of thanks to Mr. Howell by Rev. Steenwyk and Dr. Forseth, Mrs. Hirdes and Mrs. Boer led us in worshiping our God in song.  Listening to 3rd, 4th, and 5th graders belt out "Build Your Kingdom Here"...well, it just doesn't get any better than that!

Next, we had a time where we could thank and say goodbye to some very special people.  Miss Drews helped us by teaching art this year.  Mrs. Washburn helped us by filling in for Mrs. Norman.  Mrs. DeZwaan and Mr. Arhenholz helped by filling in for Mr. Howell.  Mrs. Throop is leaving after many years at HC because her family is moving out of state.  And, Mr. Howell is retiring.  (The kids were all SO excited to see Mr. Howell there!)

We closed the morning by honoring the the fifth graders.  Mr. Howell handed out standing stones the students painted last week.  Then, while the third and fourth graders lined the hallways and sang "Go Now in Peace", the fifth graders walked through the hallway to put their standing stone in a display case that will remain on display and be added to year after year.

I made sure to take lots of pictures - especially one of every student in my class as they received their standing stone from Mr. Howell.  Enjoy all the pictures below!
