12th Week Tidbits

We could not have asked for a more beautiful afternoon to be outside building shelters.  It was perfect!  I was SO amazed at what each "family group" created in about an hour of work time.  Look for more pictures at the end of this post.

Curriculum Tidbits:
  • In math, we will be reviewing ALL FOUR math operations with fractions as well as diving into some story problems.
  • The Sermon on the Mount remains our focus in Bible.
  • Students have gathered quotes from their peers to support their opinion writing.  After some research next week, we will be ready to put all the pieces of our writing together.
  • Our reading unit on characters continues to challenge us to push our thinking beyond the obvious answers.  I've been impressed with students' ability to "go deeper"!
Other Tidbits:

Our field trip to Calvin University is on Wednesday, 11/17.  We will visit with Gary Schmidt. He is a Newbery award-winning author who has written a plethora of books for children, teens, and adults.

Your child needs a mask, backpack, sack lunch/drink, and any Gary Schmidt books they would like to be autographed. All electronics (including hand-held games and student phones) should be kept at home.

All students (except those with medical exemptions on file) are required to wear masks on bus transportation. All visitors to Calvin's campus need to be masked while indoors regardless of their vaccination status. Our visit is contingent on our group following their protocols.
