- Correct any mistakes.
- Return the practice test on Monday (11/7).
- We have wrapped up our personal narratives and will be starting our next writing unit: Persuasive Essays.
- We plan to celebrate the end of our current reading unit on Friday (11/11) with a "Read & Feed". Students are invited to bring a snack and drink to enjoy while they read their "good fit book".
- Our next math unit is "Multiplying and Dividing Fractions."
- The Sermon on the Mount remains our focus in Bible.
Other Tidbits:
- The Scholastic Book Fair will be set up in the media center next week. Our class will visit the book fair Monday (11/7) afternoon to see what is available. Students who wish to purchase items will have a scheduled time to shop on Tuesday (11/8) afternoon only. The book fair will also be open for shopping after school on Thursday (11/10) and Friday (11/11).
- Due to profession development meetings for teachers, Friday is a half-day with dismissal at 11:30pm.
- We are VERY excited to have our first field trip scheduled! On Monday, November 21, the fifth graders will travel to Calvin University in Grand Rapids to visit with Newbery Award Honor winner Gary D. Schmidt. Students are welcome to bring one of his books to get signed by him. (We just finished Pay Attention, Carter Jones. We are staring Wednesday Wars. But he has many other books to choose from!) We will also be eating our sack lunches on campus and taking a mini-tour.
- We will need some parent chaperones, so let me know if you are interested. Just be aware that you will have to meet us at Calvin as we will not have room on the bus. Some parents choose to carpool.
