Curriculum Tidbits:
- Students are ready to publish their memoirs next week.
- In math, we have learned and practiced using order of operations. We are currently doing work with coordinate planes.
- In reading, we will be begin our next unit: Informational Reading Research.
- We will be finishing up our Bible lessons about the early church after Pentecost.
- Social studies has us learning about the Declaration of Independence and then the battles of the Revolutionary War.
Other Tidbits:
- Fifth grade students will have three health lessons at the end of this month. The first will be whole-class and focus on self-esteem. This includes what the world says is beautiful, what the Bible tells us is beautiful, and how we are made in God’s image. The second and third lessons will be divided by gender as students are introduced to both how bodies change through puberty and the body systems involved in conception and pregnancy. Students benefit from conversations with their parents before and after these lessons.
- May 8-12, students will be taking the MAP test.
- May 11, is a half-day due to Tulip Time. Fifth graders are dismissed at 11:30am.
- May 17, is the All School Convocation @ 9am.
- May 25, is Field Day!
- May 29, there will be no school due to Memorial Day.
- May 31, will be our Pine Ridge whole-school celebration from 12:30pm-2pm.
- June 2, is our LAST half-day of the school year! (Report cards!)
