One would think that marching in the rain made our Tulip Time parade experience a bummer. But it was far from it. This bunch had the BEST attitude about the weather and I didn't hear one complaint. (Well, maybe a one or two complaints about the long wait to get the parade started.) They were CHAMPS!
- We'll spend the beginning of the week reviewing and practicing our fraction skills before taking a test later in the week.
- This week we will take the MAP test. MAP testing is just one tool we use to help us reflect on student growth and target areas of need.
- In reading and writing, we'll continue learning about literary essays and will begin to draft our own literary essays.
- If you happen to drop by school, take a look at our "Biography Hall of Fame" display in the intersection. The third graders each made a life-size poster of the subject of the biography they read.
- Third graders are continuing to participate in "All Star Reading", working through a booklet that encourages them to read up to nine different genres between now and the end of the year. This is a great way to encourage them to stray from favorite genres and try out some new types of books.
- This month's Bible memory passage is Galatians 5:22-26.

The Hendershot Family Fund Scholarship was established to assist families who demonstrate financial need through completing a Tuition Grant Fund application and also have a child who qualifies for Educational Support Services (ESS) at Holland Christian Schools. If your family meets these two requirements, you can apply to be considered for this scholarship through the Hendershot Family Fund application form until May 17.
The Dave Slenk Memorial Scholarship was established to assist families who currently work in law enforcement and are enrolled at HC in K-12th grade. The fourth grade plant sale is coming to Rose Park on May 22 starting at 7:30am. They will be selling tomatoes, peppers, basil, cilantro and rosemary. All plants will be $2.00 per pot, cash or check only. Mark your calendars!
