We were blessed with perfect weather for our Dutch Village field trip earlier this week. The third graders were awesome on the bus - even the bus driver complimented them! They were respectful listeners during the tour - even the tour guide complimented them! And...they had so much fun exploring the park during our free time. This trip would not have been possible without our awesome chaperones. Thank you Mrs. Wargel, Mrs. Redder, Mrs. Disselkoen, Mrs. Donakowski, Mrs. VandyBogurt, Mrs. Kaindl, Mrs. Workman, and Mrs. Wassink!
Curriculum Tidbits:
- We've been working on equivalent fractions and using benchmark fractions to compare fractions. This week will get us into fraction word problems.
- This week in Bible we will follow the Israelites into the wilderness.
- In reading and writing, we'll be diving into learning about literary essays and reading a mentor text that will help shape our own literary essays.
- Third graders are continuing to participate in "All Star Reading", working through a booklet that encourages them to read up to nine different genres between now and the end of the year. This is a great way to encourage them to stray from favorite genres and try out some new types of books.
- This month's Bible memory passage is Galatians 5:22-26. Beginning Monday, we will once again gather in the small gym each morning to begin learning this verse with Mrs. Winningham at Sing, Move, and Memorize.
Tulip Time Parade Information:
- Students will need a sack lunch for Thursday. We will be eating lunch before we head to the parade route. Lunch boxes and backpacks will be staying at school on Thursday.
- Students can wear their parade outfit to school or bring it to school to change into.
- Thank you for sending in the yellow "pick-up" slips, so I know who will be picking up your child at the end of the parade route. As we approach the HC trailer, students will hand off their props, gather around me, and be ready to spot you! Your child will be asked to get their yellow slip from me when their appointed pick-up adult is there. This will help be keep track of which students leave.
- The students are placed in the parade formation based on whether they are "gardeners" or showing Dutch Heritage. Here is a link to the line-up order.
- If you have further questions, please don't hesitate to ask! There's a lot of information here to digest!
