Week #14 Tidbits

Curriculum Tidbits:

  • In reading, we are digging into informational reading.
  • In writing, persuasive/opinion essay writing continues.
  • We're are moving on to the next unit in Bible which takes us deeper into Old Testament stories.
  • Our class will continue with our weather unit.
  • With all the extras of last week, we did not get a chance to wrap up Unit 2 of math. We will look to do it early this week.

Other Tidbits:

    • Our class will be responsible for decorating a Christmas tree at The Critter Barn. We'll be making chicken ornaments. Over the next week, would you be willing to send in any toilet paper rolls you have? We'll put them to good use!
    • Well, our proposal to build the goats' interior enclosure 2 feet higher was APPROVED! The class did a beautiful job presenting their findings and laying out their "opinion" of why this was a good proposal. By keeping the goats in their enclosure, the rest of the barn can become a useable (and clean!) learning space for all Rose Park classes. Now that it's been approved, we need to move forward to making it happen. If you have any interest in helping our class complete this project, please let me know!
      • We'll need at least one experienced person to double check our measurements and plans before I shop for supplies. (Unless someone has a burning desire to shop! Receipts can be turned in to the RP office.)
      • We could use someone with tools to lead us through the actual build (but we could use more)!

    • We had a wonderful day of learning at the ODC last Friday. Thank you to our fabulous chaperones: Mrs. Cunningham, Mrs. French, and Mrs. DeVries.

    • Attending The Little Read Celebration at Hope College last Wednesday was an exciting part of our week. We watched an engaging dance based on the book, The Dreamers, and listened to the author speak.
