Week #31 Tidbits

- In math, we will review how to find equivalent fractions and have a unit assessment on Unit 5 this week. After Spring Break our math unit will be all about solving word problems.
- Matthew 28:1-10 is the Bible memory passage for the month of March.
- In Bible, we are pausing our stories about Moses and taking some time to focus on the story of Easter.
- Our social studies unit on the economy of Michigan will conclude this week and we will look forward to a science unit on Force & Motion after Spring Break.
- This week Miss Callahan hopes to finish up the reading/writing unit on poetry. They have been learning about rhythm, rhyming patterns, word choice, and syllables as they write a new type of people each day. They will spend time gathering their poems into a poetry booklet once we return from Spring Break.
- Due to the shortened week, we will not have new words for spelling this week.
- We had a fun week with show-and-tell, hands-on lessons about scarcity, and flashlight reading being some of the highlights:
Requested Announcements:- TULIP TIME is coming! 1st through 4th grade parents, - please fill out this google form to indicate your students participation and attire for the Kinderparade on May 8th.
- Swimming Lessons: Our Holland Aquatic Center is providing swim lessons for us again this year! I recognize this program is new for some children and families. Because our children are blessed to be raised in Michigan, surrounded by bodies of water, we believe this safety instruction is a blessing that we pray they will never need but feel responsible to equip them. If you find yourself pondering over the “why” of lessons, please take a listen to HC mom Jenny White on the why for swim safety. HCAC Swim School welcome video will help you understand a bit about the logistics. Our 1st-4th graders will be bused to the pool each day the weeks of April 14-25.
