I am so thankful we had the opportunity to reschedule our Geometry Scavenger Hunt for this past Friday afternoon! Thank you to Mrs. Geenen, Mr. Glick, Mrs. Hondred, and Mrs. Booko for chaperoning! We couldn't have done it without you!
(More pictures to come after the students get a chance to organize their photos!)
Curriculum Tidbits:
- In math, we we'll continue learning about geometric shapes and about both standard and metric units of measurement.
- We have almost finished our literary essay on the BAT series. This is the third graders' first exposure to literary essays, so much of our unit was spent writing together and modeling form and structure.
- In science, we'll continue to explore force and motion.
- Our study of the book of Leviticus continues for Bible.
Other Tidbits:
- On Tuesday (5/27), our class will spend part of our afternoon at "Smit Farm" exploring and doing some discovering in preparation for our faith writing. (There are some areas of trees/woods, but much of the property is field with tall grasses and wild flowers. Talk through with your third graders what clothing and footwear is best for them and will allow them to enjoy this time outdoors.
- We have Barn Duty on Tuesday.
- Field Day is the afternoon of Wednesday (5/28). T!his will be a fun afternoon of friendly competition.
- On Thursday (5/29), the three third grade classes will reconvene in their scavenger hunt groups to create a poster displaying their photos and tally up their points.
- MUSIC SHOW-N-TELL: On your child’s last music class of the school year (Wednesday, May 29 ) we will have some time for a little Music Show-n-Tell. It will be a wonderful time of celebrating music together as a class. Below is a brief list of some possibilities for this (optional) time of sharing:
Play a piece or 2 on the piano or other instrument (that you would bring in). Don’t forget to pack your music the night before.
Bring in an instrument from home, and be prepared to talk about it (and demonstrate it) for the class.
Sing a solo or perform a dance you have been working on (with music accompaniment). Looking forward to a wonderful day of celebrating music!
