Week #37 Tidbits

That is a picture of me - in denial that the end of the year is just a few (busy!) weeks away. I'll be soaking in every last moment over here.

Curriculum Tidbits:

  • In math, we'll be learning all about geometry and measurement until the end of the year. We'll also continue to work on fact fluency.
  • After spending a few weeks identifying themes and working to prove those themes with evidence, this week we will put the pieces together and write a complete literary essay.
  • Our review of 3rd grade high frequency words continues for spelling until the end of the week. Look for a new list of 25 words to be sent home Monday.
  • In reading we will wrap up our current unit, finish our second book club book, and then read across genres for All-Star Reading.
  • We'll also spend some time in preparation for our yearly faith writing.
Other Tidbits:
  • Tuesday (5/20) is our Geometry Scavenger Hunt! (This is one of my favorites!) We will load busses by 12:30pm and meet at Centennial Park for the scavenger hunt which will take place all around downtown Holland from 12:45-1:45pm.  All three third grade classes will participate, so we will be in mixed groups.
  • Tuesday (5/27) our class will spend part of the afternoon learning and exploring at "Smit Farm".
  • Each week, I love to see what the third graders come up with for show-and-tell. This past week we had Monroe's horse visit us at school. What fun!

  • Library notice: Please look around for any library materials and return them to the library
  • The annual fourth grade plant sale is coming to Rose Park on Thursday, May 22, (We had previously communicated the 21st, which is a day early - so sorry!) starting at 7:30am. They will be selling tomatoes, peppers, and a variety of herbs. All plants will be $3.00 per pot, cash or check only. Mark your calendars!
