Curriculum Tidbits:
- We'll continue learning about the the books of the Bible and how they are organized in Bible this week.
- We will work to grow our personal narratives "seeds ideas" in writing.
- In reading, we will finish out unit on building good reading habits before beginning our next unit on understanding characters.
- We are expanding our understanding of the process of multiplication and division with the following fact families: x5, x2, x1, x0, and soon x10!
- Weekly required reading minutes continue! Their completed (and signed) yellow slip should be returned to school on Monday (9/15), and they will be given a NEW Reading Minutes Slip. It's been fun to hear some of the students telling me how many minutes they read on a particular day. Remember, the key to building enjoyment of reading is in selecting reading material that they want to and are able to read.
- Word Work/Spelling also continues this coming week! The third graders will come home with a NEW list of words that share a spelling pattern on Monday and will be tested on 15 of them on Friday (9/19).
- We'll be learning about the History of Michigan in Social Studies - which will give us some additional background for Friday's field trip to Connor Bayou.
Other Tidbits:
- Our field trip to Connor Bayou to learn about the early Michigan explorers is this week Friday. Our chaperones are Mrs. Genzink, Mrs. Tetro, and Mrs. West.
- We plan to leave school by 8:45am.
- Students will need to pack a lunch and drink from home.
- This is an outdoor field trip, so dress for whatever weather we are blessed with that day. Layers are usually a good idea if it's cool in the morning.
- We should be back to Rose Park by about 2pm to finish out our day.
