Fourth Week Tidbits

Gold star!  We made it through a FULL week, and it felt GREAT!
  • The purple Reading Minutes slip should be signed and returned to school on Monday.  They will come home with a new one that same day!
  • We had our first Word Work/Spelling Test today.  A new word list will be put in their binders on Monday and should stay there for the week as they prepare for the next test on Friday.
  • All Walk-a-Thon envelopes are due back to school on Wednesday, September 19.  The actual Walk-a-Thon will be held at the high school track at 1pm on Wednesday, September 26.
  • Fractions, fractions, and more fractions.  In Math we are living and breathing all things fractions!  Mixed numbers, common denominators, mixed numbers, etc.  Your fifth grader is working hard!
  • We spent some time digging into memoir mentor texts and brainstorming about possible ideas for our own (longer-than-six-word) memoirs during our writing time. This coming week we begin drafting.
  • All fifth graders are invited to wear red, white, and blue on Monday (9/17) for our Constitution Day celebration!
  • Looking ahead:
    • There will be no school on Friday, September 28 due to Staff Profession Development.
    • Grandparents' Day is the afternoon of Thursday, October 11.
