Thirteenth Week Tidbits
This month's Bible Memory passage is Psalm 100. Students have the option of reciting it or filling out a fill-in-the-blank sheet by November 30.
With the planning stages of our Literary Essay complete, we look forward to crafting our introductory paragraph, support paragraphs, and concluding paragraph in our writing notebooks.
In Bible we continue our study of Jesus' Sermon on the Mount.
Holiday Murals are a special tradition for 5th and 6th graders at Pine Ridge! Your child will be have the option to work together in a small group to create a large paper scene depicting one of the traditional Christmas songs. Instructions and a schedule for planning and creating will be provided to students on Tuesday, 11/20 with the work completed at noon recesses after Thanksgiving.
On Thursday, November 29, we will travel to Hope College for a visit to the Kruizenga Art Museum and the Holland Area Arts Council. Students will need a backpack containing a sack lunch and drink. Thank you to our chaperones: Mrs. Sterenberg and Mrs. Slenk. If you would like also to join us, just let me know! Watch for a chaperone email on Tuesday, 11/27.
Our annual holiday collection for Lakeshore Pregnancy Center (Positive Options) begins after Thanksgiving. This long-standing project dates back almost 20 years at Pine Ridge with thousands of HC students and families providing much-needed clothing and necessities that are distributed to local moms and children in need. New baby clothes, baby care items, baby food, diapers, wipes, and toys are all accepted! Used items in excellent condition are also welcome. Thank you for your generosity!
Next week is a shortened week due to Thanksgiving Break - half-day Wednesday, and no school on Thursday or Friday. Students will NOT have spelling sort words, but WILL have a Reading Minutes sheet to complete and turn in on Monday, November 26.
