Twenty-sixth Week Tidbits

As we enter the last week of February (Amazing!), here's a look at what is happening in fifth grade:

With our persuasive letters complete, our writing focus will turn towards composing a persuasive picture book.  The process will take several weeks, but the end product will worth the time and effort!

Our new math unit focuses on solving word problems, giving the students experience applying all of our previously learned problem solving strategies.

In science, the "Force and Motion" unit continues with a focus on simple machines.  Students will be able to identify 7 common simple machines: lever, pulley, wedge, wheel/axle, screw, and inclined plane.

Psalm 121 is due on Thursday, February 28.  Students may choose to recite it to me or complete a fill-in-the-blank sheet.

We continue on in our next Bible unit that looks at how Jesus' ministry expands in and around Galilee.

March is "Reading Month"!  To kick-off this special month of emphasizing the joy of reading, the fifth grade will enjoy a Read & Feed on Friday, March 1.  Students may bring a snack and a non-caffeinated drink.

Fun Night 2019 is Friday, March 8, from 5:30-8pm here at Pine Ridge, and they could use lots of help!  Follow this link if you are able to volunteer and/or donate.
