Thirty-fifth Week Tidbits

Tulip Time 2019
Due to the Tulip Time parades this upcoming week, please note the following:
     1.  We will be dismissing at 11:30am on both Wednesday (5/8) and Thursday (5/9).  (Fifth graders do not march in the parade unless they sign-up to be a Dutch Master or SS helper.)
     2.  We will not be having word work/spelling words next week.
     3.  We will have reading minutes next week.

On Monday (5/6), Oliver will be celebrating his birthday by treating the class to a pizza lunch! Thank you, Oliver!

Mrs. Hoogland has requested donations of more newspapers for the current art project.

Our poetry unit continues as we write both acrostic and haiku poems.

Metric volume will be our focus in math and we work to convert volume measurements accurately.

Chaperone Opportunities:
     1.  On Wednesday (5/15), we will learn about invasive species from 9:30-11:30am at Riley Trails. (This is a location change from Mt. Pisgah.) . If you are available to chaperone, please send me an email.  Thanks!
     2.  On Thursday (5/23), the fifth graders from both Pine Ridge and Rose Park will spend a bulk of their day (10am-2pm) at Holland State Park.  Mrs. Plaggemars has agreed to chaperone.  I'd love to have a few more parents accompany us.  Email me if you are interested!
