Curriculum Tidbits:
- As we draft our informative research book, we are challenging ourselves to use non-fiction text structures in our writing. This involves planning and intention - both of which are important skills to practice!
- Is your fifth grader making something to share with the class that ties in with their informational writing topic? It's completely optional, but they are more than welcome to think outside the box and create something!
- Our math unit on word problems will focus on multi-step word problems in the week ahead. We are learning to look for clues in each word problem to "unpack" each situation.
- Next week we will wrap up our unit on Jesus' Ministry in Galilee and review for a test that will be given on Thursday (2/27).
- Psalm 121 is due by Friday (2/28).
- We continue to learn about the events leading up to the Revolutionary War - events such as the French and Indian War, The Stamp Act, and the Townshend Act. Next week will take us to the Boston Massacre, Tea Act, and the Boston Tea Party.
- March 3, we will walk to Central Wesleyan to hear the Grand Rapids Symphony Orchestra perform. Let me know if you'd like to join us! (You'd be welcome to meet us there and skip the walk.)
- The annual Fifth Grade Beach Day is Thursday, May 28. We'll need some chaperones, so take a peek at your calendar and let me know if you are interested.
- Family Fun Night is March 13; see the announcement below.
