Twenty-Sixth Week Tidbits

Source
Curriculum Tidbits:

  • Our next unit of study in Bible has us continuing to learn about Jesus' ministry in and around Galilee.
  • We have completed the research and drafting of our research topics, and will be publishing our writing this week and next.  Students have the option of creating something at home that goes with their topic to share with the class the last week before Spring Break.
  • We are wrapping up our learning of the events leading up to the Revolutionary War by studying Lexington and Concord.  Towards the end of the week or focus will shift to the Declaration of Independence and the forming of the Continental Army.
  • The Bible Memory passage for the month of March is Matthew 28:1-10, and it will be due by March 31.
  • The practice test for Unit 6 on word problems went home on Friday and should be completed and corrected (using the answer key attached to the parent email), and returned to school on Monday (3/2).  The unit test will be given on Tuesday (3/3).
  • We are excited to begin book clubs in reading this week!  The fifth grade groups will be reading historical fiction books together and participating in book talks about what they read.
  • Reading Minutes are due on Monday (3/2).

Other Tidbits:

  • This week Tuesday (3/3) we will be walking to Central Wesleyan Church to hear the GR Symphony Orchestra perform.  We will leave school around 10:30am; the performance begins at 11:10.  It will be too late to have hot lunch when we return to school, so students should bring a sack lunch that day.  If you would like to attend - whether you've let me know ahead of time or not - you are more than welcome to either walk with us or meet us there and enjoy the performance with us!
