What a blessing these cooler temps have been to our time at school! Our productivity is up and our warm-weather-weariness is down. Here are a few tidbits that will give you a glimpse into our week:
Curriculum Tidbits:
- Our six-word memoirs have been written and published (So fun!), so we will turn our attention to brainstorming ideas for writing a "regular length" memoir.
- We're continuing our focus on characters' actions and choices in reading.
- Our Bible lessons will continue to focus our attention on the beginning of Jesus' ministry.
- We've conquered equivalent fractions and comparing fractions! This week we will work on changing mixed numbers into improper fractions and vice versa in preparation for adding mixed numbers.
- On Monday, a new word list will be sent home in your fifth grader's homework folder. The test on that list will be given on Friday.
- Signed reading minute slips should come to school with your fifth grader on Monday (9/14).
- MAP tesing will continue this week.
- Walk-a-thon envelopes should be returned this week Wednesday (9/16).
- Picture Day is Thursday, September 24. Order forms were sent home Friday. They are specific to your child and should be returned even if you do not want to order any.
- Because of our vigilance against Covid, students are not able to bring in birthday treats this year.
- If your fifth grader's baton is still at home, feel free to send it back to school and I'll store it for the year!
