Fourth Week Tidbits

 Curriculum Tidbits:

  • We've worked to establish "seed ideas" for our memoirs and will begin to plan out our chosen "seed story" (memoir) next week.
  • In Bible we will learn about Nicodemus, being born again, and the Samaritan woman.
  • In Math we've added and subtracted mixed numbers with common denominators.  This coming week we'll try the same, but with uncommon denominators!
  • We continue to use Wonder as our read aloud and mentor text in reading as we focus on characters.

Other Tidbits:

  • Fifth grade plans to do our walk-a-thon on Monday afternoon (9/21).  Be prepared with appropriate clothing and shoes for walking outside.
  • Psalm 8 is due by the end of the month.  Students may choose to say it to me alone or with a friend, OR they may choose to do a fill-in-the blank.
  • Reading minutes are due on Monday.
  • New spelling words will be sent home Monday, with a test on Friday (9/25).
  • I will be out of the classroom this coming Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday.  Mrs. Iverson has graciously agreed to be the substitute.  She has already subbed in our class for a few hours earlier this year, so she will be a familiar face, and will offer the class a feeling of consistency for those three days.
