It's been so good to be back at school and all together. We've loved hearing everyone's stories from Christmas Break and even seeing some fun pictures. Thank you ALL for the many cards, notes, and gifts given before break. I felt completely humbled and spoiled by your kindness. As always, the best gift is your continued prayers for our class and our school!
Curriculum Tidbits:
- In Bible, we are learning about the many parables Jesus used to teach about the Kingdom of Heaven.
- Our Bible memory passage for the month of January is Psalm 1.
- Multiplication of whole numbers and decimals is the focus of our new math unit. Along with multi-digit multiplication, we are learning about patterns of multiplication with Powers of Ten and exponents.
- In social studies we are learning about some of the first settlements in the New World like Roanoke, Jamestown, and Plymouth.
- Students will spend next week drafting their persuasive/opinion essays.
- Informational/Non-fiction reading is our current reading unit. Each student has chosen a collection of high-interest information books to read and use for our teaching points.
- The end of the 2nd marking period is Friday, January 15.
- Report cards will be sent home the following Friday, January 22.
