For a short week, it was a busy one! Students learned about Martin Luther King, Jr., published persuasive essays and shared them, completed a text feature "All About Me" project, and began to learn about the Thirteen Colonies...to name a few. Here's a peek at what next week holds:
Curriculum Tidbits:
- Our study of Jesus' ministry continues in Bible with stories about Jairus' daughter, feeding the 5,000, and Jesus walking on water.
- Students have become far more comfortable doing multi-digit multiplication with decimals! This week we'll wrap up this unit by focusing on estimating and rounding decimal numbers. A practice test will be sent home on Friday (1/29) for students to complete and return on Monday (2/1).
- We'll turn our attention to informational writing as each student selects a topic to research and write about.
- In reading, we continue to read non-fiction and practice strategies that help us understand new information.
- The Thirteen Colonies continues to be front and center in social studies. We'll break them down into Middle Colonies, Southern Colonies, and New England Colonies. We look forward to working on related STEM activity on Friday afternoon!
- January's memory passage, Psalm 1, is due by Friday (1/29).
