Twenty-Second Week Tidbits

 Curriculum Tidbits:

  • We've been having some wonderfully rich conversations as we dig into God's Word in this current unit on Jesus' Ministry!
  • A practice test went home with your fifth grader today (1/29).  Students should complete the test, correct it with the answer key attached to this week's parent email, and return the corrected test to school on Monday (2/1).
  • We will spend the beginning of the week reviewing our most recent math unit, and the unit 4 math test will be given on Wednesday (2/3).
  • Each fifth grader decided on topic to research as part of our informational writing unit.  (Look for a letter in their take-home folders!). Hopefully you can work together to find a few resources they could use at school this coming week.  (Books, magazines, websites, etc.). No need to find actual facts & information...just a source of information so the students can have resources to use as they research and take notes next week.
  • We've been able to tie in our study of Colonial America in social studies with our current non-fiction reading unit.  Students have had fun reading Eating the Plates and learning interesting - and sometimes gross - facts about colonial life.
  • The Bible memory passage for February is Psalm 121.
Other Tidbits:
  • The first Wacky Wednesday is set for this coming Wednesday (2/3), and is Crazy Hair Day!
  • Please check to see that your fifth grader has boots to wear outside for recess now that it's so snowy and icy.  Not only does it help with keeping our room free from snow, but it gives them better traction while on the playground.  Thanks!
