Curriculum Tidbits:
- The Bible test we planned on taking on Friday, will now be given on Monday (2/8). The same is true of last Friday's spelling test.
- Our next Bible unit is a continuation of Jesus' ministry.
- Continue to practice Psalm 121, our memory passage for February.
- For social studies, we will come up with a list of our Top Ten Colonial Fun Facts, and then spend the rest of the week learning about the triangular trade.
- In our informational reading unit, we will be focusing on identifying different text structures.
- We continue to research our chosen topics, and will then decide which categories have enough information to be included in our reports.
- We are enjoying our current read aloud, Wednesday Wars by Gary Schmidt.
Other Tidbits:
- You may have heard how we were able to use snow shoes to trek over towards the woods near the high school. Partners were able to choose whether to be settlers looking for a good place to settle or explorers tasked with mapping out the area.
- Our class applied some STEM thinking last week by working together to construct a "cabin" using only materials available. Their creative problem solving skills were definitely put to the test!
- Thanks to these fifth graders, we have a delivery of meal sacks ready to donate to Kids' Food Basket.
- This week's Wacky Wednesday is PAJAMA DAY! Feel free to bring along a cozy pillow or blanket and an extra snack as we will be taking advantage of our coziness to enjoy a Read-and-Feed that day.
