Twenty-Fifth Week Tidbits

 Bitmoji ImageCHILLY FEBRUARY!

Curriculum Tidbits:

  • We continue to practice, practice, practice long division with two-digit divisors.  There are a lot of steps and it certainly takes some stamina to stick with each problem!
  • This short Bible unit containing more stories of Jesus' ministry will wrap up this week.
  • Our study of text structures in reading continues with cause & effect and problem solution.
  • We'll enjoy a STEM activity building off of cause & effect text structures as do some chain reaction activities in our STEM lab.
  • We are in the middle of drafting our informational writing.  It takes some skill and planning to weave our research into cohesive paragraphs!
  • In Social Studies, we'll finish our "Help Wanted" posters for colonial jobs, and turn our attention to the "Road to the Revolution".

Other Tidbits:

  • Sports Day is our fourth and final Wacky Wednesday scheduled for this week Wednesday.
  • Post-its, pencils, and expo markers are things that typically could use replenishing right about now. Check with your fifth grader to see if they could use more.
  • We had the pleasure of welcoming Dr. Eric Forseth, HC Head of Schools, on Thursday!  He came to speak to both 5th grade classes about his trips to China - specifically focusing on the persecution of the church in China.  The students were spell-bound and fully engaged.  (See pics below.)
