Curriculum Tidbits:
- Next week the fifth graders will be taking math, language, and reading MAP tests which will take up a bulk of our learning time. The information gathered is one piece of many that we use to help individualize your child's instruction.
- Our math focus continues to be on fractions, as we review how to convert mixed numbers into improper fractions and visa versa.
- Next week is the start of Word Work and Reading Minutes!
- On Mondays, your fifth grader will bring home a list of related words that teaches word/spelling patterns. They will do activities at school with the words all week and be tested on 15 of them on Fridays. At home practice is encouraged.
- On Mondays, your fifth graders will also receive a Reading Minutes slip. Use it to help keep track of minutes read. The expectation is that fifth graders will read 150 minutes per week. Please have your fifth grader total his/her minutes, sign, and return the slip the following Monday.
