26th Week Tidbits

Curriculum Tidbits:
  • Our new math unit incorporates all of fifth grade math into solving word problems.
  • We will be finishing up with Jesus' parables next week and students will work to create a comic strip of a parable of their choice to show understanding.
  • The class is doing a FABULOUS job preparing for, recording, and presenting their book talks.  This takes a lot of thought and courage.  We've been enjoying watching a few each day as we eat our snacks.  Students will record one book talk each Friday to be shared with the class the following week.
  • Today each student made a list of their top three choices of book to use for their literary essay.  Next week they begin identifying a theme and determining evidence from the book to support it.
  • In science, we'll continue exploring gravity and its affect on objects.
Other Tidbits:
  • Parent Teacher Conferences will be held on March 28 and 30, from 4-8pm.  I look forward to meeting with you all!
  • Mark your calendars! The All-School Spring Program will be held on April 21, 7-8:30, at Central Wesleyan.
