Week Five

Curriculum Tidbits:

  • Next week we will be reviewing our first Bible unit in preparation for a test on Wednesday (9/28.) A review sheet will be sent home on Monday.
  • We continue to practice adding and subtracting fractions with and without common denominators.  Towards the end of the week we will do some fraction estimation and fraction story problems.
  • Students spent a lot of time brainstorming in order to think of possible topics for their personal narratives this past week.
  • Psalm 8 is due to be said aloud to me alone or with a friend OR students may choose to complete a fill-in-the-blank sheet individually.
  • In reading, students will reflect on their reading and their teaching point responses in order to make new goals.

Other Tidbits:

  • We look forward to having Mr. Bryant Russ, HC Directer of Faith Formation, visit the fifth grade classes on Tuesday (9/26) morning.  We love connecting with and learning from him!
  • The Walk-a-Thon will be held on Wednesday (9/28).  Students should dress for the weather, which in Michigan usually means layers.
  • Parent Teacher Conferences are coming up on October 17th (in-person) and 19th (virtual).  Look for sing-up information to be sent home in the coming weeks.

Requested Announcement:

  • Food service is in full swing. Thank YOU for being patient and persistent with our Family Portal.
    • Please continue to use the Family Portal to deposit funds into your lunch account. We are a pre-pay system, so we appreciate having funds in your child's account when they choose to take hot lunch. Go to hollandchristian.familyportal.cloud to deposit funds or apply for lunch benefits. There is no fee to deposit funds. (If you do not know your student account number, reach out to your school secretary.)
    • Please note, for families receiving lunch benefits, if your child only wants milk, the NSLP does not give benefits for milk alone. If you want free or reduced price milk, your child may take a fruit/vegetable and the milk will be under your benefits.
