Curriculum Tidbits:
Addition and subtraction of fractions gets a little more complex this coming week as we figure out what to do to find common denominators first.
In Bible, our stories will include Jesus' First Miracle, Nicodemus, and Living Water.
NEW word work/spelling words will be sent home on Monday with a test on Friday.
In recognition of Constitution Day, fifth graders are invited to wear red, white and blue to school on Monday (9/19).
In reading, we will be reviewing theme and comparing our text to other texts with common themes. We will also spend two days learning some fluency strategies to help us with our oral reading skills.
Students will be brainstorming "turning point moments" as we work to find an idea for our personal narratives.
We are continuing to practice Psalm 8 - our memory work for September. Students should review at home as well.

School pictures will be taken on Thursday (9/22) morning. Please return picture forms even if you do not want to order pictures.
To celebrate HC Homecoming Weekend, students are invited to wear maroon and white on Friday (9/23).
The Walk-a-Thon is Wednesday (9/28).
Parent Teacher Conferences will be held Monday (10/17) from 4-8pm in-person and Wednesday (10/19) virtually. Information about sign-ups will be sent home sometime in the weeks to follow.
