Week Six

Curriculum Tidbits:
  • We have wrapped up our first reading unit, evaluated our work, and made new goals for our reading in preparation for the next unit focusing on characters.
  • The fifth graders did remarkably well on this week's Bible test.  In our next unit, we learn more about Jesus' ministry.
  • In math, we will wrap up our unit this week with focused work on fraction story problems before reviewing for Friday's unit test.  Look for a review/practice test to be sent home on Monday for students to complete and correct at home.  They will have two days to work on it before returning it on Wednesday.
  • We'll learn about the "triangular trade" in social studies.
  • Students will spend the beginning of the week planning their personal narrative using a "post-it note planner" before entering the drafting phase later in the week.
  • Our new Bible memory passage for the month of October is Psalm 23.
Other Tidbits:
  • The Walk-a-Thon was a resounding success!  Thank you for your support!
  • October is Down's Syndrome Awareness Month.  Students are invited to wear mismatched socks on each Friday of the month to raise awareness.
  • Parent Teacher Conferences are coming up on October 17th (in-person) and 19th (virtual).  I look forward to meeting with you!
