- Refigure any missed problems.
- Return the practice test to school on Monday (1/30).
- We finished our unit about Jesus' parables so fifth graders are working on a culminating project this coming week - a parable poster.
- Our next math unit will be all about dividing whole numbers and decimals.
- Fifth graders are putting their learning about gravity to good use with a group project in which they need to create an info graphic.
- Students continue to draft their "Informational Writing" and work on creating graphic organizers of the information.
Other Tidbits:
- 1000 Days of Learning! Fifth graders will mark their 1000th day of school on Friday, February 3. Yes, ONE THOUSAND! (Approximately 180 days of school in K, 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th, and 100 days in 5th = 1000!) We will celebrate this milestone by incorporating 1000 into our days' curriculum and as well as participating in fun activities throughout the day.
- Wacky Wednesdays - Our last Wacky Wednesday is next week!
- February 1 - Hat day
- Save the Date! South Side/Pine Ridge Parent Board is hosting an all-school skating night at Rollexscape on Tuesday, March 28th. Join us from 6-8pm for skating, fun and fellowship. Admission and skate rental costs are covered by the Parent Board. Concessions are available to purchase by families. We look forward to seeing you there!
- TTQ coach - We are looking for a volunteer to run our TTQ boys running club at Pine Ridge. This program runs two days a week after school, and you can choose which two days work for you! A curriculum is provided, and it culminates with a 5K toward the end of the school year. Interested? Please reach out to the front office. We need a coach and an assistant to run the program....so let's get running!
- PR Girls' Running Club Coach - Do you have a love for running, and would you like to pass that on to 3rd-5th grade girls here at Pine Ridge? We would like to host a Girls' Running Club again this year. Last year the club began meeting in mid-March and concluded with the Tulip Time 5K (which is held on Saturday, May 6 this year). Practices were held at Pine Ridge twice a week from 3:15-4:30. Please contact the Pine Ridge office if you are interested in more information or to sign up to be a coach! (There is already one awesome mom ready to assist with this group!)
