Week Twenty-Four

Curriculum Tidbits:

  • Fifth graders continue on in our unit, Dividing Whole Numbers and Decimals. This coming week we will focus our practice on dividing decimal numbers.
  • We will be sharing our literary non-fiction writing pieces to celebrate the hard work that went into them.
  • This month's Bible memory passage is Psalm 121, and is due at the end of the month. As always, students have the option of reciting it to me (alone or with a few friends) or completing a fill-in-the-blank.
  • This week in Bible will be spent reviewing the stories of this short unit in preparation for a unit test TBD.
  • We continue in our non-fiction reading unit by applying what we know about reading informational text to learning about President's Day.
Other Tidbits:
  • There is no school on Monday, February 20.
  • This past week the fifth graders participated in a STEM project that ALL Pine Ridgers will be doing - constructing a unique, symmetrical snowflake using Keva planks and popsicle sticks.  Incorporating a six-sided starburst or a hexagon as the center, this activity encouraged teamwork and creativity as they constructed their flakes.
  • Our Black History Month "quilt" is just about complete as we are adding the last few important figures to it.
