Curriculum Tidbits:
- Fifth graders are learning that doing long division takes time as we continue on in our unit, Dividing Whole Numbers and Decimals. This coming week we tackle understanding what to do with remainders.
- We look forward to bringing our literary non-fiction writing pieces to completion next week.
- This month's Bible memory passage is Psalm 121, and is due at the end of the month. As always, students have the option of reciting it to me (alone or with a few friends) or completing a fill-in-the-blank.
- We continue in our non-fiction reading unit by applying what we know about reading informational text to learning about the origins of Valentine's Day.
- On Friday, February 17, we have a half-day and will dismiss at 11:30am.
- There is no school on Monday, February 20.
- We had a great time making "monsters" with our 2nd grade South Side buddies this week.
- Our class won a "Hot Chocolate Party" because of our participation in last week's Hat Day. We will enjoy the hot chocolate on Valentine's Day. (Thank you, Parent Board!)
- Fifth graders are welcome to bring valentines to pass out for the whole class or for just the boys/girls. (This is not required, but typically most fifth graders choose to participate.)
- We had fun doing a little Valentine's STEM project this afternoon. They had to construct a valentine holder/container using provided supplies and lots of imagination!
- Would you like to save money on your tuition? TRIP is a great way to do so. You will learn how to use TRIP and be able to access your account right away. Be sure to bring your computer or phone to participate. Leave ready to save!
