Here are a few helpful tidbits of information to prepare us for the week ahead:
Class-Specific Tidbits:
- Thank you for sending in EXPO markers for your third grader!
- Ask your third grader if his/her headphones work. A handful of students have headphones that seem to be broken and may need to be replaced.
- Yellow Folders - Yellow "Take-Home Folders" are sent home when there are papers inside that students need to bring home. Please ask your third grader to show you any papers that come home in the yellow folder as they are either...
- Note, notices, order forms, permission slips, or
- Completed student/school work that can stay at home.
- Completed Work - Student work is typically sent home on Fridays. Taking a few moments to look it over with your third graders will give you a glimpse into what we are learning, and will allow you to see and compliment your third grader's growth.
- Remember that time...? - Thinking of "small moment ideas" to write about can be very tricky for many third graders. Perhaps this weekend you could chat with your third graders about some things they have done or experienced by prompting them with: "Remember that time we...?" Our personal narrative will be the telling of one small moment. For example, instead of writing about an entire week-long trip to Disney, they could write about riding a particular ride or seeing a particular show at Disney.
- Next week our class will be taking the MAP test in the areas of reading, language arts, and math. Data collected from these assessments are one "piece to the puzzle" that help us look for ways to meet your child where he/she is and grow them throughout this year. Good rest and a healthy breakfast go a long way into helping your child do their best.
- CELEBRATE! - I've seen huge growth in the students' stamina and quality of work produced. Yay!
- Next week we will be creating some interactive sidewalk art with chalk paint for other RP students to enjoy on the playground. Planning has already begun!
Requested Announcements:

HC Homecoming is next week Friday, September 15 at 7pm - you’re invited, tickets here!
Parent/Guardian Volunteers - If you are interested in volunteering and joining for any school events we need an ichat form and a copy of your drivers license previous to your attendance at events. This can be filled out and e-mailed to rp@hollandchristian.org or dropped off at Rose Park at your earliest convenience - a new form must be filled out each school year!
Carpool edits are still underway you may have noticed we are giving the carpool lane the right of way as soon as they start moving - if you’re in the parking lot or on the sidewalk please wait until all three lanes have cleared before you attempt to walk to your cars or pull out of the parking lot! Thanks!
