Maybe THIS will be the week we get in a full FIVE days!
Curriculum Tidbits:
- Third graders will receive NEW words on Monday for their spelling test on Friday (2/2).
- Signed reading minutes slips should be returned on Monday (1/29).
- In Bible, we are continuing the stories of Jacob. The Bible memory passage for the month of January, is Psalm 1. Students will recite it of do a fill-in-the-blank on Wednesday (1/31).
- We continue to focus on measurement in math. Much of this week will be on understanding standard units of capacity (cup, pint, quart, etc.)
- Our usual reading minutes and math homework will be replaced by Kid Town Homework. Look for a packet of information to come home with your third grader on Monday (1/29).
- Our reading and writing units both have us learning about Informational Reading.
Other Tidbits:
- A swimming lesson permission slip will go home with third graders on Monday (1/29). Please return them prior to the first day of lessons.
- Third graders should continue the habit of taking their yellow Take Home folders to and from school each day. (This is one of many ways we work to practice and build responsibility and independence.)
- Third graders will be celebrating the 103rd Day of School on February 12. (The rest of the school plans to celebrate the 100th Day of School on February 7.
Requested Announcements:
- Swimming Lessons for 1st through 4th grade: All 1st-4th graders will be bused to the pool each day the weeks of February 5-February 16. Please be aware of this schedule when making appointments for these few weeks.
- 9:00-10:00--1st Grade
- 10:00-11:00--2nd Grade
- 11:00-12:00--4th Grade
- 12:35-1:35--3rd Grade
- Vision Screening will take place on February 12.
- Reminder: Winter clothes, art shirts, PE shoes → As we enter the second half of our school year, please remember to have appropriate cold-weather gear for your children for the winter weather, an art shirt for art class, and tennis shoes that can be worn for PE. Thank you!
