Looking Ahead to Week 34!

Field Trip Info: We are so excited for our upcoming field trip to Dutch Village on Wednesday, May 1! We will be off-campus most of the day. The main thing to know is that your third grader will need to have a sack lunch that day.  As mentioned in an earlier email, please send me an email if your child would like to order a sack lunch from school as these need to be ordered in advance. I'm so grateful that so many of you were willing and able to accompany us: Mrs. Kaindl, Mrs. Workman, Mrs. Disselkoen, Mrs. Wargel, Mrs. Redder, Mrs. Wassink, and Mrs. Donakowski. (I believe that's everyone! My official list is at school, so don't panic if you volunteered and don't see your name here!)

Curriculum Tidbits:
  • We continue to deepen our understanding of fractions in math while also working towards multiplication and division fact fluency.
  • This week in Bible will be all about the Ten Plagues
  • We'll begin to learn about what a literary essay is in preparation for our next writing task.
  • In reading, we'll be starting a mini-biography project this week as we work to display the information we learned in our biographies.
  • Third graders are continuing to participate in "All Star Reading", working through a booklet that encourages them to read up to nine different genres between now and the end of the year.  This is a great way to encourage them to stray from favorite genres and try out some new types of books.
  • This month's Bible memory passage is Acts 2:1-4.
Requested Announcements:

  • TULIP TIME INFORMATION: 1st - 4th grade: Tulip time permissions slips will be coming home with your student in the near future on neon yellow paper. Please fill it out and return it. You may view a copy of the information here
  • THANK YOU for your generous support of the Book Fair last week!
