It's hard to believe that this is is Miss Callahan's LAST week with us! She will conclude her student teaching placement on Friday and will graduate from Hope on Sunday with her teaching degree. In the fall she will begin teaching Spanish in a suburb of Chicago at the high school she attended. We are so thankful she could spend these eight weeks in our classroom, and we wish her the very best!
Curriculum Tidbits:
- We'll focus on the life of the Israelites in the wilderness in Bible.
- We'll be wrapping up Unit 6 in math - a unit all about solving different types of word problems - and will have a test on the unit next week.
- In reading, we are using our book club books to learn about how characters change over time.
- For writing, we've discussed how to find the theme of a story or a book. This week we will talk about finding evidence to "prove" that theme. This is all to help prepare us to write a literary essay.
Other Tidbits:
- Dutch Village Field Trip - We will be off-campus on Wednesday (4/30) from 9:30 until 2:00pm. Our chaperones are: Mr. Geenen, Mr. Imber, Mrs. Tetro, Mrs. Disselkoen, Mrs. VanDorp, and Mr. or Mrs. Glick. We are so thankful! Third graders will need a home lunch and drink for that day, or they may order a sack lunch through hot lunch. The school-provided sack lunch will be a ham and cheese sandwich on a Hawaiian roll, chips, fruit, cookie, and water. Linda needs our lunch count on Monday.
4th Grade Plant Sale - The annual fourth grade plant sale is coming to Rose Park on May 21 starting at 7:30am. They will be selling tomatoes, peppers, and a variety of herbs. All plants will be $3.00 per pot, cash or check only. Mark your calendars!
Library notice:
