Curriculum Tidbits:
- In Bible, we begin the year in the book of Ephesians, learning from what Paul write in his letter to the church in Ephesus. We review God's plan of salvation and will then move into learning about how God's Word was written and how it is organized into testaments and books.
- In reading, our first unit is all about "launching" into good reading habits. We discuss what makes a good reader and how we can set goals for our reading to make our reading stronger and longer.
- Our first math unit introduces multiplication and division concepts using skip counting. Learning multiplications and division facts is foundational for math and is a large part of our third grade math focus.
- We are reviewing Rose Park's "SER" behaviors so can begin our year on the right foot. "SER" behaviors are those that help us be Self-controlled, Engaged, and Respectful.
- Click here to access a list of helpful reading tips and book suggestions for third grade. I have also linked it in the "Helpful Links" section in the sidebar of this blog so you can always find it easily.
Other Tidbits:
- The Holland Christian Convocation Service will be held at the HCHS football field this coming Wednesday (9/27) from 9-9:30am. Parents are invited and welcome to this special time of worship as a school community.
- Show-and-Tell will be every Thursday during our lunch time (11:25-11:45am). If your child is wanting to have a pet visit, please email me ahead of time so we can coordinate a good time to do that.
- If you still have your child's baton at home, please send it back to school ASAP. I will keep them safe until the end of the year.
