We had perfect weather for our little field trip to "Smit Farm" this past week! The third graders were in their glory as they worked to make a shelter that could fit at least one of their group members. We saw enthusiastic play, creative problem solving, and kind cooperation all at work that afternoon. Be sure to scroll down after reading this post to see some of the pictures.
The third graders also had an opportunity to do some planting of zucchini seeds in the green house this past week. We are excited to watch our plants grow and produce some zucchini for us to enjoy.
Curriculum Tidbits:
- This week our Leviticus Bible unit will have us learning about purity and impurity as we learn about the Day of Atonement. We will also learn about what it means to live as a holy community.
- It's time to CELEBRATE! Our personal narratives are complete, and they are awesome! This bunch loves to write and create and it shows! We'll not only be sharing them in our class, but also with the other third graders, and maybe even our three-school buddies. Our next unit will have us learning to write to share an opinion.
- In reading, we'll will work on the final project for our Understanding Characters unit.
- The class did so well on their first math assessment this past week. Hooray! We are now in Unit 2 which will deepen our understanding of the principles of multiplication and division and help us learn the x6, x7, and x8 fact families. As part of our work to accomplish that, this week the class will be working to design their own "Camp Array".
